Softball Recap: Glenbard West Picks Up Eighth Consecutive Win

Glenbard West waltzed into their contest on Monday with seven straight wins... but they left with eight. They came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured a 4-3 W against the York Dukes. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Hilltoppers have posted against the Dukes since April 22, 2019.

Olivia Salerno spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and two unearned) runs on two hits and racked up 13 Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in ten consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Ainslie Bobroff was incredible, going 2-for-4 with one home run and two runs. Another player making a difference was Alexa Trybus, who went 3-for-4 with two RBI and one double.

Glenbard West's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 10-2. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.0 runs over those games. As for York, their loss dropped their record down to 10-4.

We've got plenty of inter-conference action coming up soon. Glenbard West is set to challenge their familiar foe Proviso West at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Meanwhile, York will take on rival Oak Park-River Forest at 4:45 p.m. on Friday.
