Baseball Recap: Thursday's Victory Is Bennett's Sixth in Last Seven Outings

Bennett won the last time they faced Wellington and things went their way on Thursday too. The Tigers had just enough and edged out the Eagles 4-3. That's two games straight that the Tigers have won by just one run.

Brody Hawes made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run while striking out 11 over seven innings pitched. Those 11 strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also big at the plate, earning one RBI, one run, and one stolen base. He has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last four times he's played.

Hawes wasn't the only one making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Rafael Ibarra, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI and one run. Those two RBI gave Ibarra a new career-high. Peyton Mott was another, getting on base in two of his three plate appearances with one run and one RBI.

Bennett is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-9 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.3 runs over those games. As for Wellington, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 6-15.

Bennett wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next contest, a 21-0 victory against Mitchell on the 10th. As for Wellington, they have also already played their next game, a 6-4 win against Berthoud on the 10th.
