Softball Game Preview: Robinson Rockets vs. Lorena Leopards

For the second straight game, Robinson will face off against Lorena. The Rockets will look to defend their home field on Thursday against the Leopards at 7:00 p.m. Robinson is coming into the contest hot, having won their last 18 games.

Last Tuesday, Robinson made easy work of Lorena and carried off an 18-5 victory. The result was nothing new for the Rockets, who have now won 19 matches by six runs or more so far this season.

Kaygen Marshall and Brenleigh Robinson did most of the damage at the plate: Marshall fired off two home runs, four runs, and five RBI while getting on base in four of her five plate appearances, while Robinson got on base in four of her five plate appearances with one home run and six RBI. Those six RBI gave Robinson a new career-high. Lexi Rosillo was another key player, scoring three runs while going 3-for-5.

Robinson kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 17 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in 18 consecutive games.

Robinson's win was their eighth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 25-2. Those road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.0 runs over those games. As for Lorena, the loss snapped their winning streak at three games and leaves them with a 16-7 record.

Fans could be in store for some top-tier slugging on Thursday. Robinson hasn't had any problems when it comes to power this season, having averaged 1.9 home runs per game. However, it's not like Lorena struggles in that department as they've been averaging 0.8 home runs. With so much power on both teams, it'll be down to the pitchers to keep the mound locked down.
