Fort Meade fell victim to Ridgeview Global Studies Academy and their airtight defense on Monday. They might have been a little too into the holiday spirit, gifting the Explorers an easy 8-0 victory. The Miners have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Meanwhile, Avon Park's game on Thursday was all tied up 1-1 at the half, but luckily for them it didn't stay that way. They narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past Lake Placid 2-1. The Red Devils wouldn't have won without Mikayla Bennett, who scored the game-winner.

Avon Park is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests, which provided a nice bump to their 6-3-1 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 20 goals over those five matches. As for Fort Meade, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-7.

Everything went Fort Meade's way against Avon Park in their previous matchup back in January, as Fort Meade made off with a 5-1 victory. Will Fort Meade repeat their success, or does Avon Park have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
