Benson has gone a perfect 7-0 against Desert Christian recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Friday. The Bobcats will welcome the Eagles at 4:00 p.m. Benson has given up an average of 8.3 runs per game this season, but Friday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
Benson is probably headed into the match with a chip on their shoulder considering Willcox just ended the team's four-game winning streak on Wednesday. They came up short against the Cowboys, falling 17-7.
Karris Taylor made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with one home run and four RBI.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Desert Christian). They blew past San Miguel 31-5 on Tuesday. The victory continues a trend for the Eagles in their matchups with the Vipers: they've now won six in a row.
Desert Christian got a massive performance out of Alexa Yarger, who fired off two home runs, nine RBI, and five runs while going 4-for-5. Those nine RBI gave Yarger a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Cali Smith, who fired off seven RBI, four runs, and two triples while going 5-for-5.
Desert Christian kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 23 hits. That's a new trend for them: they were averaging 5.4 hits per game earlier this season, but in their last 15 games they've averaged 12.2.
Desert Christian's win bumped their record up to 3-9. As for Benson, they now have a losing record of 9-10.
Benson's speedy runners might be the difference in Friday's contest. The Bobcats have been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.2 stolen bases per game. It's a different story for Desert Christian, though, as they've been averaging only 1.2 stolen bases. Will they be able to secure the bases, or will Benson continue to outrun the ball?
Benson was able to grind out a solid victory over Desert Christian when the teams last played back in March, winning 12-8. Will the Bobcats repeat their success, or do the Eagles have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
