Baseball Game Preview: Cambria Heights Highlanders vs. West Shamokin Wolves

The Cambria Heights Highlanders will take on the West Shamokin Wolves at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. Cambria Heights will be strutting in after a win while West Shamokin will be coming in after a defeat.

On Wednesday, Cambria Heights had just enough and edged out Portage 4-3.

Cambria Heights' victory was truly a team effort as six different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Bryce Lewis, who went 2-for-3 with one run. Anthony Swander was another, going 2-for-4 with two RBI.

Meanwhile, Thursday just wasn't the day for West Shamokin's offense. They lost 10-0 to Conemaugh Township on Thursday. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss the Wolves have suffered since March 21st.

Cambria Heights has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-7 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.0 runs on average over those games. As for West Shamokin, their defeat dropped their record down to 12-6.

Cambria Heights beat West Shamokin 6-1 when the teams last played back in April of 2024. Do the Highlanders have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Wolves turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
