Baseball Recap: Four Straight Home Wins for Central Cambria

Central Cambria had won four straight at home, but on Thursday they bumped their record up to 10-2 to make it five. They had just enough and edged out the Bellwood-Antis Blue Devils 11-9. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Red Devils considering their two-run performance the matchup before.

The team relied heavily on Grady Snyder, who went 3-for-4 with one home run, two stolen bases, and five RBI. He is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games he's played. Blake Coposky was another key player, going 2-for-4 with one home run, two RBI, and one double.

Central Cambria was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .484. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Bellwood-Antis only posted a batting average of .355.

As for Bellwood-Antis, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-7. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss they have suffered since May 9, 2024.

On Bellwood-Antis' side, Chase Plummer and Cam Swogger stepped up to the plate in a big way. Plummer went 3-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI, while Swogger got on base in all four of his plate appearances with three runs, two doubles, and one RBI. Bellwood-Antis is 3-1 when Swogger posts two or more runs, but 1-6 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Matt Berkowitz, who went 2-for-3 with two RBI and one run.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Central Cambria will head out to take on Penn Cambria at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Bellwood-Antis, they will venture away from home to square off against Clearfield at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday.
