Basketball Recap: Daniel Powers Key Part of Team Effort in Falcons Win

Christian Brothers won the last time they faced Bella Vista and things went their way on Friday too. The Christian Brothers Falcons enjoyed a cozy 67-50 victory over the Bella Vista Broncos. Given the Falcons' advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 90th, while the Broncos are ranked 569th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Christian Brothers' success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Daniel Powers led the charge by dropping a triple-double with ten points, 11 boards, and ten assists. The dominant performance gave Powers a new career-high in assists. The team also got some help courtesy of Stephan Hewitt, who posted 17 points and eight rebounds.

Despite the loss, Bella Vista still got an impressive performance from Cade Rucker, who went 6-for-12 en route to 15 points and seven boards. Mark Otrotsyuk was another key player, going 5-for-10 on his way to 13 points.

The win made it two in a row for Christian Brothers and bumps their season record up to 21-6. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 73.5 points over those games. As for Bella Vista, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 9-17.

Looking ahead, Christian Brothers is taking a road trip to challenge Rio Americano at 7:30 p.m. on February 14th. Christian Brothers is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 62.7 points per game this season. As for Bella Vista, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 53-43 defeat against Woodcreek on the 12th.
