Baseball Recap: Brimley Bays vs. Pickford Panthers

Brimley had lost seven straight on the road, but on Friday they dropped their record down to 4-12 to make it eight. They came up short against the Pickford Panthers, falling 11-0. The Bays were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Panthers earlier this season, when they won 5-4.

Brimley saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Micah Morrison, who went 1-for-3 with one double. Evan Evitts also deserves some recognition as he hit his first triple of the season.

As for Pickford, their record now sits at 14-4-1. Considering they have won 12 contests by more than five runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

On Pickford's side, Carter Rye was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out six over four innings pitched. Rye has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in five consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.

In other batting news, Gunner Bennin was incredible, going 3-for-4 with three doubles, four RBI, and one run. Those three doubles gave him a new career-high. Mac Collins was another key player, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with three runs and one stolen base.

Brimley does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Pickford, they wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next match, a 16-5 win against Rudyard on the 30th.
