Basketball Recap: North Star Piles Up the Points Against Meyersdale

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask North Star). They really took it to the Meyersdale Red Raiders for the full four quarters, racking up an 84-37 win. The Cougars have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won four matches by 28 points or more this season.

It was another big night for Ethan Smith, who almost dropped a triple-double on 24 points, nine boards, and nine steals. With that strong performance, he is now averaging an impressive 15.4 points per game. The team also got some help courtesy of Andy Retassie, who posted 16 points along with seven boards and five assists.

When it comes to explaining why Meyersdale lost on Wednesday, don't look at Matthew Hainsworth. Despite the final result, he earned eight points and five rebounds. Another player making a difference was Gavan Steinberg, who put up eight points.

North Star pushed their record up to 7-3 with the victory, which was their eighth straight on the road dating back to last season. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 27.1 points. As for Meyersdale, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-8.

North Star didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 69-13 win against Rockwood on the 10th. As for Meyersdale, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, an 81-43 loss against Turkeyfoot Valley Area on the 9th.
