Baseball Game Preview: Coastal Christian Centurions vs. Wayne Christian Eagles

For the second straight game, Coastal Christian will face off against Wayne Christian. Coastal Christian will look to defend their home field on Thursday against Wayne Christian at 4:00 p.m. Coastal Christian comes in still looking for their first win of the season.

Coastal Christian's last matchup with Wayne Christian could've gone either way, but unfortunately the same can't be said for the pair's matchup on Tuesday. Coastal Christian came up short against Wayne Christian, falling 13-2.

For Wayne Christian's part, Brandon Benkovics made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out eight over four innings pitched. Furthermore, Benkovics didn't allow a single earned run, the first time he has blanked an opponent since back in March of 2024. He was also big at the plate, going a perfect 2-for-2 with three stolen bases, four RBI, and two runs. Those four RBI gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, Caden Salazar Embich was a standout: he went 1-for-2 with one home run and two RBI. Miles Hamm was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing two bases while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances.

Wayne Christian always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .513. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Wayne Christian's victory was their first in the conference, bumping their conference record up to 1-4 and their overall record up to 4-5. As for Coastal Christian, their loss dropped their record down to 0-9.
