Tulia is 2-8 against River Road since April of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. Tulia will venture away from home to challenge River Road at 4:30 p.m. Tulia is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.9 runs per game this season.
Having struggled with three defeats in a row, Tulia turned things around against San Jacinto Christian Academy on Tuesday. They walked away with a 7-4 victory over the Patriots. The game was the first time the Hornets have beaten the Patriots on their field since March 24, 2018.

Jarvis Pestrana was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over five innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off nine hits (and not a single walk). Those six strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing a base while getting on base in five of his six plate appearances. Tulia is undefeated when Pestrana posts two or more runs, but 3-5-1 otherwise.
In other batting news, Jacob Trevino was excellent, scoring a run while going 2-for-4.
Meanwhile, River Road was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They came up short against Bushland, falling 14-5.
Aaron Lovett made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 1-for-2 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one double. Another player making a difference was Zantiago Marrufo, who scored two runs while going 2-for-3.
Tulia's record now sits at 11-5-1. As for River Road, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-8.
River Road's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Tulia hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .312. It's a different story for River Road, though, as they've only averaged .235. Will they be able to contain Tulia's hitters?
Tulia took their win against River Road in their previous matchup on March 11th by a conclusive 11-1. The rematch might be a little tougher for Tulia since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
