Basketball Recap: Fountain Inn Comes Up Short

If Fountain Inn was feeling good fresh off their 58-31 takedown of Southside last Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Fountain Inn Fury were beaten by the Westside Rams 69-30 on Tuesday. While losing is never fun, the Fury can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' South Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 45th, while the Rams are ranked ninth).

Chaniya Jackson and Azaria Johnson certainly did their best on Tuesday to avoid the loss. Jackson posted ten points and six boards, while Johnson scored six points.

Westside got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Tiana Marshall out in front who went 5-for-12 en route to 15 points and five steals. Marshall is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last seven games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of MaKyhia Paul, who dropped a double-double with 14 points and 12 rebounds.

Fountain Inn's loss dropped their record down to 17-7. As for Westside, the win was the eighth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 19-2.

Fountain Inn does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Westside, they will challenge Southside at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. One thing working in Westside's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last six matches.
