Baseball Recap: University Picks Up Fifth Straight Win at Home

University proved they can win big on Wednesday (they won by ten) and on Thursday they proved they can win the close ones too. They had just enough and edged out the Brebeuf Jesuit Preparatory Braves 7-6. For the Trailblazers, this counts as revenge for the 11-10 win the Braves walked away with the last time they faced one another back in May of 2024.

Cooper Cammack made a splash no matter where he played. He pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Cammack was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Phillip Jacobs, who went 2-for-4 with two runs and one triple. University is undefeated when Jacobs posts two or more runs, but 8-10 otherwise. Finn Steiner was another key player, going 1-for-2 with two RBI, one run, and one double.

University was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .385. They are a perfect 7-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

University pushed their record up to 13-10 with the victory, which was their fifth straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.0 runs over those games. As for Brebeuf Jesuit Preparatory, their loss ended a five-game streak of away wins and brought them to 11-8.

Coming up, University will challenge Greenwood Christian Academy at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Brebeuf Jesuit Preparatory, they will square off against Hanover Central at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday.
