Volleyball Recap: Mekeel Christian Academy's Victory on Sunday Extends Winning Streak to Six

Mekeel Christian Academy had won five straight games and Macie Dell did her part to make it six on Sunday. The Lions walked away with a 2-0 win over the Coxsackie-Athens Riverhawks for which the team can thank Dell, who had seven kills, four digs, and two aces. She is on a roll when it comes to kills, as she's now had five or more in each of the last six games she's played.

While Mekeel Christian Academy won a shutout, things came down to the wire in the first set they played. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 26-24, 25-19.

Mekeel Christian Academy got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Mikal Towers out in front who had seven kills and one block. The team also got some help courtesy of Paige Brennan, who had four digs and one block.

Mekeel Christian Academy's win bumped their record up to 14-3-1. As for Coxsackie-Athens, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 8-7.

Mekeel Christian Academy wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 2-0 victory against Mohonasen on the 12th. As for Coxsackie-Athens, they will head out on the road to face off against Rensselaer at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday.
