Basketball Recap: Garfield Takes a Loss

If Garfield was feeling good fresh off their 39-16 takedown of Newton Falls last Thursday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Garfield G-Men fell to the Cardinal Huskies 42-38. The G-Men were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Huskies apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in December of 2019.

When it comes to explaining why Garfield lost on Saturday, don't look at Mandy Cardinal. Despite the final result, she dropped a double-double on 20 points and 13 rebounds. The dominant performance gave Cardinal a new career-high in boards.

Garfield's loss dropped their record down to 8-11. As for Cardinal, they pushed their record up to 9-10 with the win, which was their fourth straight at home.

Garfield has already played their next match, a 63-21 defeat against Crestview on the 3rd. As for Cardinal, they will venture away from home to take on Berkshire at 6:45 p.m. on Wednesday. Berkshire will roll in looking for their sixth straight victory, something Cardinal surely won't give up without a fight.
