Soccer Game Preview: Taft vs. Lane Tech

Taft is 0-6 against Lane Tech since May of 2016 but things could change on Wednesday. The Eagles are packing up and heading out on the road for their first away game of the season: they will face off against the Champions at 5:00 p.m. Both come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Taft barely beat Resurrection the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Eagles were the clear victors by an 8-1 margin over the Bandits on Monday. Taft have beaten Resurrection the last four times they've met, but they better watch out: this was the closest Resurrection has come to flipping the script.

Meanwhile, Lane Tech kept a clean sheet against Hinsdale Central two weeks ago. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 1-0 win over the Red Devils. The score was all tied up 0-0 at the break, but Lane Tech were the better team in the second half.

The victory got Taft back to even at 1-1. As for Lane Tech, their record now sits at 2-0.

Taft suffered a grim 6-0 defeat to Lane Tech in their previous matchup back in April of 2025. Can the Eagles avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
