Basketball Recap: Cromwell Snags 15th Victory in Last 17 Games

Cromwell had already proven themselves in the regular season and they didn't miss a beat now that it's playoff time. Everything went their way against the Cherry Tigers on Saturday as the Cromwell Cardinals made off with a 64-39 victory. The Cardinals have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 19 matches by 20 points or more this season.

Cromwell's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Shannon Lund led the charge by shooting 55% from the field to rack up 17 points in addition to eight rebounds and six steals. Lund has been hot for a while, having posted three or more steals the last 11 times she's played. Another player making a difference was Isabella Anderson, who went 6-for-11 on her way to 16 points along with eight boards and six steals.

Cromwell was working as a unit and finished the game with 16 assists. They are 22-2 when they've passed the ball that well.

Cherry lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Aunika Helms, who posted 11 points and seven rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Aimeelee Grotberg, who put up eight points and eight boards.

Cromwell has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 15 of their last 17 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 23-4 record this season. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 39.3 points. Cherry moved to 16-12 with that defeat, which also ended their five-game winning streak.

Coming up, Cromwell will face off against Ely at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Cherry does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
