Baseball Game Preview: Northridge Raiders vs. Plymouth Pilgrims/Rockies

The Northridge Raiders will take on the Plymouth Pilgrims/Rockies at 5:45 p.m. on Wednesday. Both come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Northridge's pitching crew heads into the contest hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Monday. They skirted past Mishawaka 2-0. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Raiders.

Not much got past Braxton Nagy, who gave up just three hits to keep Mishawaka off the board. Nagy also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Northridge is undefeated when he allows at most two earned runs, but 8-9 otherwise.

At the plate, Northridge secured the victory behind a pair of hitters. One of them was Brecken Gawthrop, who went 1-for-2 with one run and one double.

Meanwhile, Plymouth entered their tilt with NorthWood on Monday with two consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with three. They came out on top against the Panthers by a score of 5-1. That's two games straight that the Pilgrims/Rockies have won by exactly four runs.

Nick Manzuk spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on eight hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances.

Northridge pushed their record up to 14-9 with the win, which was their seventh straight at home. They've had to fight for that success though, as they only beat their opponents by an average of 1.86 runs across that stretch. As for Plymouth, their victory bumped their record up to 14-10.

Northridge was able to grind out a solid win over Plymouth in their previous matchup two weeks ago, winning 8-4. Do the Raiders have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Pilgrims/Rockies turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
