Baseball Recap: Make It Three in a Row for Farmington

Farmington proved they can win big on Wednesday (they won by ten) and on Friday they proved they can win the close ones too. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Eureka Hornets, sneaking past 4-3. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Farmers have posted since April 19th.

The team relied heavily on Lane Wheelwright, who went 3-for-4 with one stolen base and two RBI. Ben Marvel was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one triple and one run.

The win was the third in a row for Farmington, bringing their record up to 21-6. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.7 runs over those games. As for Eureka, they moved to 26-3 with that loss, which also ended their seven-game winning streak.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Farmington will challenge Bushnell-Prairie City at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. The Farmers are facing the Spartans at the right time seeing as the Spartans are stuck on a 28-game losing streak. As for Eureka, they will take on Morton at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday.
