Softball Recap: Covenant Christian Now 6-2 over Last Eight Games

It may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but Covenant Christian ultimately got the result they hoped for on Saturday. They had just enough and edged out the South Bend Saint Joseph Huskies 14-13.

Ariannah Jones made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out seven batters over eight innings while giving up six earned (and six unearned) runs off 16 hits (and not a single walk). That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in April of 2024. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-5 with two runs and one RBI.

In other batting news, Covenant Christian let Anabelle Davis and Moriah Armstrong run wild. Davis went 3-for-5 with two runs, two doubles, and two RBI, while Armstrong went 3-for-5 with four RBI and two runs. That's the most RBI Davis has posted since back in May of 2024. Another player making a difference was Braylin Boruff, who went 3-for-6 with three runs.

Covenant Christian has been performing well recently as they've won six of their last eight games. That's provided a nice bump to their 8-6 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.9 runs over those games. As for South Bend Saint Joseph, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-6.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Covenant Christian will venture away from home to take on Indianapolis Bishop Chatard at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. The Warriors' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Trojans have averaged an impressive 8.1 runs per game this season. As for South Bend Saint Joseph, they will square off against Elkhart at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Lions will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each match than the last.
