Basketball Recap: Johnovan Smith and Mason Mccarty Secure Win for Crawfordsville

Crawfordsville won the last time they faced North Montgomery and things went their way on Friday too. The Athenians walked away with a 52-42 victory over the Chargin' Chargers.

Crawfordsville was led to victory by Mason McCarty and Johnovan Smith. McCarty posted 23 points in addition to six boards and three steals, while Smith had ten points along with six steals and five assists. The matchup was McCarty's sixth in a row with at least 15 points. Jason Minnette also deserves some recognition as he posted his first assist of the season.

North Montgomery lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Talyn Sheldon, who went 5-for-10 on his way to 15 points and six rebounds. Another player making a difference was Isaac Thornton, who put up 11 points and six boards.

The win got Crawfordsville back to even at 2-2. As for North Montgomery, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-4.

Crawfordsville will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Tri-County at 11:30 a.m. on the 30th.
