Saturday, 4 p.m. Eastern timeWhy it's big: A pair of teams very familiar with Virginia's Class 6A state championship go for the gold again on Saturday afternoon. Oscar Smith was crowned champion in 2008 and 2011. Westfield won it all in 2003 and 2007. The Bulldogs' 2007 team beat Oscar Smith in the semifinals. That's the only other time the powers have met on the gridiron.
Oscar Smith (13-0) is proven to have one of the top defenses in the state, as demonstrated by a 29-19 win over then-No. 6 Ocean Lakes two weeks ago and a 21-3 triumph against Thomas Dale in the semifinals.
Westfield (13-1) impressively avenged its only loss of the season with a 40-8 rout of previously unbeaten South County last week.
Names to watch: Oscar Smith quarterback
Shon Mitchell is the 11th-rated dual-threat prospect in the Class of 2017, according to 247Sports. He has 7,755 career passing yards, already ranking ninth on Virginia's all-time list.
Westfield's hard-nosed defense is anchored by senior linebacker
Jack Clancy. The 6-foot-1, 225-pounder is a three-star prospect committed to play college football at Navy.
