Recap: Dodge County Indians vs. Fitzgerald Purple Hurricane
The Dodge County Indians had already won nine in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 23.8 points), and they went ahead and made it ten on Saturday. They enjoyed a cozy 58-41 win over Fitzgerald. That result was just more of the same for these two, as Dodge County also won the last time the pair played back in January.
Dodge County was led to victory by Paige Ingram and Lyric Green. Ingram scored 11 points along with five rebounds and three blocks, while Green dropped a double-double on 23 points and 16 rebounds. That makes it four consecutive games in which Green has scored at least a third of Dodge County's points. Another player making a difference was Ja"Vonna Hamilton, who scored three points along with 12 rebounds and three steals.
Fitzgerald lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Journy Scott, who scored 11 points. Kianti McDuffie was another key contributor, scoring nine points.
Dodge County has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 13 of their last 14 games, which provided a nice bump to their 18-3 record this season. As for Fitzgerald, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 11-11.
Dodge County will head out on the road to square off against Sumter County at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Dodge County is coming into the game with eight straight victories on the road, so Sumter County is out to stop a squad with plenty of momentum. As for Fitzgerald, they will be playing at home against Worth County at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Fitzgerald is coming into the contest with three straight losses at home, meaning Worth County will have to defend against a squad hungry for a victory.
