Basketball Recap: Ida Baker Falls Despite Big Games from West Powell and Nestor Rivera

Ida Baker was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They came up short against the Island Coast Gators, falling 71-50. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Bulldogs of the 69-42 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in January.

Despite the defeat, Ida Baker had strong showings from Nestor Rivera, who went 6 for 11 on his way to 12 points, and West Powell, who posted 13 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Marcus Quick, who almost dropped a double-double on ten points and nine boards.

Island Coast got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Izaiah Bacchus out in front who put up 15 points. SirJoshua Anderson was another key player, putting up 11 points.

Ida Baker's loss dropped their record down to 2-6. As for Island Coast, their win bumped their record up to 5-3.

Ida Baker wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 59-30 defeat against Cape Coral on the 13th. As for Island Coast, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 74-66 victory against Naples Classical on the 13th.
