Baseball Game Preview: Cottage Grove Lions vs. Junction City Tigers

For the second straight game, Cottage Grove will face off against Junction City. The Lions will face off against the Tigers at 3:00 p.m. on Friday. Cottage Grove has now lost seven straight, leaving the team hunting for their first win since April 12.

Tuesday just wasn't the day for Cottage Grove's offense. They lost 10-0 to Junction City on Tuesday. That's two games in a row now that the Lions have lost by exactly ten runs.

For Junction City's part, Kaden Shafer was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits over five innings pitched. Shafer has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than one walk in six consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with one triple and two RBI. That triple was his first of the season.

In other batting news, Josh Berry was incredible, going 3-for-4 with three runs, one triple, and one stolen base. That's the most hits he has posted since back in April. Another player making a difference was Jayden Lucas, who got on base in all three of his plate appearances with one home run and two runs.

Cottage Grove's loss dropped their record down to 5-12-1. As for Junction City, their victory ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 9-6.
