Baseball Recap: Clear Creek Has No Trouble Against Arrupe Jesuit

After only one run in their last matchup, Clear Creek made sure to put some runs up on the board against Arrupe Jesuit on Saturday. The Golddiggers put the hurt on the Generals with a sharp 24-5 win. That looming 24-5 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for the Golddiggers yet this season.

Vinny Schoell made a splash no matter where he played. He struck out six batters over five innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off four hits. Schoell was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with one stolen base and two RBI.

In other batting news, Anthony Zacharias was incredible, getting on base in five of his six plate appearances with five runs, five RBI, and one stolen base. Those five RBI gave him a new career-high. Joey Lupinacci also deserves some recognition as he brought in his first RBI of the season.

Clear Creek was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .514. They are a perfect 5-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

With the victory, Clear Creek broke their three-game losing streak and moved their record to 5-6. As for Arrupe Jesuit, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost ten of their last 11 games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 2-13 record this season.

Clear Creek will venture away from home to square off against Estes Park at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Arrupe Jesuit, they will host Denver West at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday.
