Softball Recap: Northeast Vernon County Victorious

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Hume, Northeast Vernon County was happy to have turned things around on Tuesday. They came out on top against the Miami Eagles by a score of 8-5. The victory continues a trend for the Knights in their matchups with the Eagles: they've now won three in a row.

Liya Bailey-Thompson made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out six over five innings pitched. Bailey-Thompson was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one double. Those two stolen bases gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Brooklyn Keith, who went 1-for-3 with four stolen bases and two runs. Those four stolen bases gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Rylie Hunt, who went 2-for-4 with one run and one RBI.

Northeast Vernon County's win bumped their record up to 4-9. As for Miami, they are on a seven-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-5.

Northeast Vernon County does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Miami, they are taking a road trip to take on Archie at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The Whirlwinds have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 11.54 runs per game on average), something the Eagles will no doubt try to take advantage of.
