Baseball Game Preview: Mariemont Warriors vs. Reading Blue Devils

For the second straight game, Mariemont will face off against Reading. The Warriors will venture away from home to face off against the Blue Devils at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday.

Mariemont had been on a three-game streak of scoring at least ten runs, but Reading put an end to it on Monday. The Warriors fell just short of the Blue Devils by a score of 2-0. The contest marked the first time this season in which the Warriors were not able to get on the board.

For Reading's part, Connor Davis made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out 12 over seven innings pitched. Davis has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with two runs and one stolen base.

Davis wasn't the only one making solid contact as three players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Carter Reed, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base.

Reading has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-4 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.3 runs over those games. As for Mariemont, the defeat snapped their winning streak at four games and leaves them with a 6-4 record.
