Baseball Game Preview: Centerville Tigers vs. Grapeland Sandies

Centerville is preparing for their first district matchup of the season on Tuesday. They will square off against the Grapeland Sandies at 7:00 p.m. Centerville's pitching crew has only allowed 2.4 runs per game this season, so Grapeland's hitters will have their work cut out for them.

It was a proper cat-fight when Centerville challenged Palestine last Friday. Centerville took a 6-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of Palestine. The Tigers' defeat signaled the end of their five-game winning streak.

Meanwhile, Grapeland put another one in the bag on Friday to keep their perfect season alive. They came out on top against Cayuga by a score of 3-0.

The team relied heavily on Ricky Gilmore, who scored a run while going 2-for-3.

Centerville's loss dropped their record down to 8-2-1. As for Grapeland, their win bumped their record up to 4-0.

Centerville took their victory against Grapeland in their previous matchup back in April of 2024 by a conclusive 14-4. The rematch might be a little tougher for Centerville since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
