Basketball Game Preview: Freehold Township Patriots vs. Marlboro Mustangs

Freehold Township is 2-8 against Marlboro since January of 2020 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Thursday. The Freehold Township Patriots will square off against the Marlboro Mustangs. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

Last Thursday, Freehold Township lost to Middletown South on the road by a 58-44 margin. The Patriots have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Meanwhile, Marlboro came up short against Central Regional on Thursday, falling 65-40. While losing is never fun, the Mustangs can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' New Jersey basketball rankings (they are ranked 155th, while the Golden Eagles are ranked 24th).

Marlboro has also traveled a rocky road recently having lost three of their last four games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 8-11 record this season. Freehold Township's defeat dropped their record down to 7-9.

Freehold Township was able to grind out a solid victory over Marlboro in their previous matchup back in January, winning 58-50. Does Freehold Township have another victory up their sleeve, or will Marlboro turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
