Basketball Game Preview: Wake Prep Academy Guardians vs. East Wake Academy Eagles

The Wake Prep Academy Guardians will face off against the East Wake Academy Eagles at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Wake Prep Academy will be looking to extend their current six-game winning streak.

On Friday, Wake Prep Academy didn't have too much trouble with Raleigh Charter as they won 46-29. The Guardians pushed the score to 42-17 by the end of the third, a deficit the Phoenix cut but never quite recovered from.

Wake Prep Academy got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Zanasha Bolden out in front who went 8 of 19 en route to 17 points. Bolden is also crushing it when it comes to steals: she's grabbed at least two every time she's taken the court this season. Karly Beckstrand was another key player, putting up four points in addition to ten boards and six steals.

Wake Prep Academy smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 17 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in eight consecutive matches.

East Wake Academy has been a dominant force so far, but they're in the middle of a mini-slump at the moment. They were five points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 41-36 heartbreaker at the hands of Franklin Academy.

Wake Prep Academy has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight contests, which provided a nice bump to their 12-3 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 52.3 points per game. As for East Wake Academy, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-4.
