Volleyball Recap: Nixon-Smiley Takes a Loss

Nixon-Smiley was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They took a 2-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Refugio Bobcats.

Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-15, 25-17.

Cedie Wills had an outrageously good game for Refugio as she had six digs, six aces, and two blocks. Those six aces gave Wills a new career-high. Jazmyn Howard was another key player, getting six kills and four blocks.

Nixon-Smiley's defeat dropped their record down to 2-7. As for Refugio, the win snapped their losing streak at three games and leaves them with a 5-7 record.

Coming up, Nixon-Smiley will challenge Runge at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Refugio, they will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on George West at 6:05 p.m. on September 2.
