Basketball Recap: Waller Takes a Loss

Waller lost against Cypress Lakes back in December of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Waller Bulldogs lost 52-30 to the Cypress Lakes Spartans. While losing is never fun, the Bulldogs can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 501st, while the Spartans are ranked 190th).

Despite the loss, Waller still got an impressive performance from Trinity Prince, who almost dropped a double-double on nine points and 12 boards. With that strong performance, Prince is now averaging an impressive 8.2 rebounds per game.

Even though they lost, Waller smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 12 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 11 offensive rebounds in three consecutive contests.

It was another big night for Makennah Alexis, who went 8 of 17 en route to 22 points in addition to six steals and five boards for Cypress Lakes. Alexis has been hot for a while, having posted two or more steals the last 62 times she's played. Briayza Addison was another key player, going 6 for 12 on her way to 14 points.

Waller has been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four games, which put a noticeable dent in their 14-13 record this season. As for Cypress Lakes, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 19-9.

Waller has already played their next match, a 49-36 defeat against Cypress Ranch on the 23rd. As for Cypress Lakes, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 47-37 win against Cypress Woods on the 22nd.
