Softball Recap: Central Takes Down Ranked Clovis West

Central faced Clovis West in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Friday. The Grizzlies had just enough and edged out the Golden Eagles 6-4. The victory continues a trend for the Grizzlies in their matchups with the Golden Eagles: they've now won seven in a row.

Kaia Galaviz spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned runs on four hits and racked up 12 Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts in ten consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Ella Bakholdin, who went 1-for-2 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. Kiki Diaz also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen bases of the season.

Central's win was their sixth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 11-1-1. As for Clovis West, with the defeat, they broke their six-game winning streak and moved their record to 11-2-1.

Coming up, Central is taking a road trip to face off against Buchanan at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
