They ended up on the wrong side of a rough 69-46 walloping at the hands of the Scots on Wednesday. The result was an unpleasant reminder to Grove City of the 83-52 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in December of 2014.
Grove City's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Kraig Gilbert, who scored 15 points, and Demitri Adado who scored 15 points.
Dominique Aekins was his usual excellent self, scoring 29 points along with seven rebounds and four steals for Walnut Ridge. Aekins also posted two+ blocks for the first time this season. Marquis Lucas was another key contributor, scoring 14 points along with five rebounds and two steals.
Grove City's defeat ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 16-9. As for Walnut Ridge, the victory (which was their sixth in a row) raised their record to 17-7.
Grove City does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Walnut Ridge's road trip will continue as they head out to face Hayes at 5:00 p.m. on March 9th. Hayes is on a 13-game streak of home wins, Walnut Ridge a eight-game streak of away wins -- so someone will have to leave a streak behind on the court.
