Baseball Game Preview: Dexter Southfield vs. Mount St. Charles Academy Mounties

Dexter Southfield will face off against the Mount St. Charles Academy Mounties at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Dexter Southfield has four straight victories, Mount St. Charles Academy has three straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

Dexter Southfield's pitching crew heads into the contest hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Wednesday. They had just enough and edged out Phillips Academy 1-0.

Sachin Gopal made a splash no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run over 5.2 innings pitched. Gopal was also big at the plate, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one double. Those three hits gave him a new career-high.

In other pitching news, Matthew Blanusa looked comfortable as he pitched 1.1 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one hit any time he's pitched this season.

Back at the plate, Gabe Malaret was excellent, going 1-for-3 with one home run. He also put up an RBI, which was his first of the season.

Meanwhile, Mount St. Charles Academy came up short against Deerfield Academy on Friday and fell 4-1.

Dexter Southfield's win bumped their record up to 4-0. As for Mount St. Charles Academy, their loss dropped their record down to 4-4-1.
