Baseball Game Preview: Van Bulldogs vs. Mount View Golden Knights

Van is 1-6 against Mount View since March of 2023 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Thursday. The Bulldogs are packing up and heading out on the road for their first away game of the season: they will challenge the Golden Knights at 5:30 p.m.

Van is leaving town to face Mount View after disappointing their home crowd in their season opener. The Bulldogs lost 14-2 to the Golden Knights on April 2nd.

For Mount View's part, Kyrece Hughes and Jacob Wright were major factors no matter where they played. On the mound, Hughes tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Wright tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Hughes has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances. At bat, Hughes got on base in three of his four plate appearances with three stolen bases and three runs, while Wright went 2-for-3 with three stolen bases, three RBI, and two runs.

In other batting news, Hunter Muncy was incredible, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with three stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI. What's more, he posted two hits, the most he's had since back in May of 2025. Blane Sturgell also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.

Van might still be hurting after the 14-2 loss they got from Mount View in their previous meeting on April 2nd. Can the Bulldogs avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
