Baseball Recap: St. Francis Takes a Loss

St. Francis's tournament run continued when they took on Maranatha on Thursday. The Sharks fell 9-5 to the Minutemen. The Sharks have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Nash Horton put in work while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he pitched four innings while giving up just two earned runs off four hits. He also tossed a walk, which is notable because St. Francis is 4-1 when he allows at most one walk, but 5-8 otherwise. Horton was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with two runs and one triple.

Horton wasn't the only one making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Javier Fonseca, who went 2-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

St. Francis' loss dropped their record down to 9-9. As for Maranatha, the win was the 11th in a row for them, bringing their record up to 13-6-1.

St. Francis has already played their next game, a 7-2 victory against Pioneer Valley on the 24th. As for Maranatha, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next match, a 3-2 win against Righetti on the 25th.
