Basketball Recap: St. John Takes a Loss

If St. John was feeling good fresh off their 70-31 takedown of Conneaut last Thursday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The St. John Fighting Herald were beaten by the Crestwood Red Devils 87-35 on Friday. The match marked the Fighting Herald's lowest-scoring game so far this season.

Steven Lincoln went supernova for Crestwood, going 11-for-16 from beyond the arc en route to 33 points. Those 33 points gave Lincoln a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Dekota Johnson, who shot 4-for-7 from downtown and dropped a double-double with 17 points and ten boards.

St. John's defeat dropped their record down to 12-9. As for Crestwood, their win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 17-4.

Looking ahead, St. John will face off against Lordstown at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. St. John is facing Lordstown at the right time seeing as Lordstown is stuck on a ten-game losing streak. As for Crestwood, they and Jefferson Area will face off at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday without much rest, having both just played.
