Whiteville came into Friday's game looking for another win against Clinton, but Miles McCallop wouldn't allow it. In a tight matchup that could have gone either way, the Dark Horses made off with a 37-36 win over the Wolfpack thanks in part to McCallop, who rushed for 62 yards and two scores, and also threw for 226 yards and a pair of touchdowns. He was no stranger to the big play, taking off on a dash that went for 55 yards.

Clinton moved to 2-3 with that victory, which also ended their three-game losing streak. As for Whiteville, their loss dropped their record down to 3-2.

Clinton and Whiteville will both get a bit of extra prep time before their next contests. The next time the Dark Horses see the field they'll take on Pender at 7:00 p.m. on October 3. As for Whiteville, their break will end when they face West Bladen at 7:00 p.m. on October 3.
