Recap: Virginia Episcopal School Bishops vs. Blue Ridge Barons
The Virginia Episcopal School Bishops's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Thursday after their sixth straight loss. They were outmatched by Blue Ridge at home and fell 83-54. While losing is never fun, Virginia Episcopal School can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Virginia basketball rankings (they are ranked 115th, while Blue Ridge is ranked eighth).
Lukas Buinevicius and Kaloyan Kolev certainly did their best on Thursday to try and avoid the loss. Buinevicius scored 17 points along with seven rebounds, while Kolev scored nine points along with six assists. The team also got some help courtesy of Ruben Velez, who scored six points.
Blue Ridge got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Shanon Simango out in front who scored 19 points along with two blocks. Another player making a difference was Kamren Martin, who scored 13 points along with five assists.
Virginia Episcopal School's defeat was their fourth straight at home, which bumped their record down to 6-6. As for Blue Ridge, the victory (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 12-4.
Virginia Episcopal School will head out on the road to challenge Eastern Mennonite at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Blue Ridge won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Oak Hill Academy - Red at 3:30 p.m. on January 19th. One thing working in Oak Hill Academy - Red's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last five matches.
