Basketball Recap: Pelham Skates Past Pataula Charter Academy with Ease

On Saturday, the Pelham Hornets were fully in charge, breezing past the Pataula Charter Academy Panthers 58-14. Given the Hornets' advantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 248th, while the Panthers are ranked 497th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Pelham was led to victory by Ja'Kieria Frazier and Mylaisha Almond. Frazier dropped a double-double on 24 points and 11 steals, while Almond dropped a triple-double on 13 points, 12 rebounds, and 12 steals. Frazier has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last four times she's played. Another player making a difference was Dezire Atkins, who posted six points and four steals.

The win made it two in a row for Pelham and bumps their season record up to 7-5. As for Pataula Charter Academy, they dropped their record down to 3-10 with the defeat, which was their sixth straight on the road.

Pelham has already played their next game, a 36-34 victory against Calhoun County on the 14th. Pataula Charter Academy has also already played their next match (against Mitchell County), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
