Basketball Recap: Choctaw Central Snaps Three-Game Streak of Wins at Home

Choctaw Central was the 75-72 winner over Newton County when they last played one another on January 3rd, but their luck changed this time around. The Choctaw Central Warriors fell to the Newton County Cougars 57-51. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as the Warriors came into the game with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' Mississippi basketball rankings (they are ranked 31st, while the Cougars are ranked 87th).

Choctaw Central's defeat ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 13-10. As for Newton County, the win (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 12-6.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Choctaw Central will head out to challenge West Lauderdale at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Newton County has already played their next match (against Northeast Lauderdale), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
