Highland and Rigby are an even 5-5 against one another since April of 2023, but likely not for long. The Rams will challenge the Trojans at 3:30 p.m. on Friday. Highland is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.4 runs per game this season.

Highland is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Idaho's top teams: Thunder Ridge, who was ranked third at the time (Highland was ranked 12th). The Rams narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past the Titans 11-10. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last five times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

Meanwhile, Rigby made easy work of Madison on Tuesday and carried off an 11-5 victory. The win continues a trend for the Trojans in their matchups with the Bobcats: they've now won five in a row.

Traylee Reid made a splash while hitting and pitching. She struck out six batters over four innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits (and only one walk). She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in four consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with two runs and one stolen base.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Maggie Stowell, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. That's the most hits she has posted since April 7th. Izzy Reeves also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.

Rigby's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 8-13. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.3 runs over those games. As for Highland, they have been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six games. That's provided a nice bump to their 15-7 record this season.

Friday's matchup will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Highland hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .336. However, it's not like Rigby struggles in that department as they've averaged .325. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.

Highland beat Rigby 18-14 in their previous matchup on Wednesday. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Rams since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
