Brent Walton ran for two touchdowns and
Greg Basalyga added two as well as
Pickerington Central (Pickerington, Ohio) defeated Groveport-Madison (Groveport, Ohio) 44-7 on Saturday.
The Tigers were up 37-7 at the half after taking the lead on a Walton touchdown run in the first quarter.
Pickerington Central expanded its lead to 37 points entering the fourth quarter. PC's lone score in the quarter came on a Walton touchdown run.
Austin Newman played well for the Cruisers. The junior quarterback threw one touchdown.
Groveport-Madison's lone touchdown came on a 27-yard pass from Newman to Jordan Garrettson in the first quarter.
Led by
Taco Charlton, Coming into the game the Pickerington school had allowed 18.9 points per game this year. The defense really stepped up, holding GM well below its season average of 17.3 points scored per game.
A 35-0 Pickerington Central victory was the result when the squads faced off last season.
With the win PC extended its winning streak to three games.
Pickerington Central (6-2) will play a Ohio Capital - Ohio game against Lincoln next week, while Groveport-Madison (1-8) will take on Reynoldsburg also in a Ohio Capital - Ohio game.
