Volleyball Recap: Caldwell's Run of Seven Straight Wins Now Over

It was a good run, but Caldwell unfortunately witnessed the end of their seven-match winning streak on Friday. They fell 3-1 to the Bellville Brahmas. The Hornets were not able to make up for their defeat to the Brahmas from their previous meeting back in October of 2024.

Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-23, 20-25, 25-20, 25-16.

Reese McManus paced Caldwell's offense, picking up 17 kills. McManus got some help from Lydia Giese and her 19 assists. Giese was also solid from the service line: she led the team with three aces.

Caldwell's loss was their first in the district, dropping their district record down to 3-1 and their overall record down to 17-22. As for Bellville, their win was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 25-13.

We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Caldwell is set to take on their familiar foe La Grange at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Bellville will square off against rival Giddings at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
