Recap: Hanford West Huskies vs. Sierra Pacific Golden Bears
This season hasn't been kind to The Hanford West Huskies, who are still winless after their ninth matchup. They received a tough blow on Thursday as they fell 34-19 to Sierra Pacific. Despite 158 more yards than Sierra Pacific, Hanford West couldn't convert that extra yardage to scores.
Despite the loss, Hanford West still got an impressive performance from Tyrik Jackson, who gained 124 total yards and a touchdown. Jackson was no stranger to the big play, turning on the jets for a run that went for 58 yards.
The team's defense also tried their best in the loss by holding Sierra Pacific to a paltry 199 yards. A big part of that defensive dominance came down to Hanford West's ability to keep the quarterback under pressure: the team laid him out four times before it was all said and done. Sierra Pacific's QB won't forget Emanuel Jackson iv anytime soon given Jackson iv sacked him four times.
Hanford West's loss was their ninth straight on the road (dating back to last season), which dropped their overall record down to 0-9. Admittedly, the team was facing some tough opposition over that stretch, including 8-2 Corcoran and 8-3 Strathmore (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 61% over those games). As for Sierra Pacific, their victory bumped their record up to 7-3.
Hanford West does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Sierra Pacific will head out on the road to face off against Coalinga at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Coalinga focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up five on Friday.
