Baseball Recap: West Covina Gets the Win

West Covina saw some tournament action on Saturday. They came out on top against the South Spartans by a score of 9-5. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Bulldogs.

Joaquin Diaz looked comfortable as he tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two hits in four consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Griffey Moncada was a standout: he scored two runs while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in doubles (two). Issac Infranca also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

West Covina's victory bumped their record up to 9-7. As for South, their loss dropped their record down to 9-6.

West Covina has already played their next game, a 3-2 win against Ontario Christian on the 7th. As for South, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next matchup, a 5-2 defeat against Beckman on the 7th.
