Baseball Recap: Harvey Red Raiders vs. Harding Skippers
Harvey extended their losing streak to three on Thursday, dropping them down to 2-12. They were two runs away from ending the streak, but they lost a 7-5 heartbreaker at the hands of the Harding Skippers. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat the Red Raiders have suffered since March 30th.
Jake Boehm made the most of his time in the batter's box despite the final result and went 1-for-3 with one home run and three RBI. That home run marked the first that he has launched this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Ryan Delaney, who went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases and one run.
As for Harding, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 7-8. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.5 runs over those games.
On Harding's side, Elijah Harless was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he struck out ten batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned (and four unearned) runs off three hits. That's the most strikeouts Harless has posted since back in May of 2025. He was also big at the plate, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with three runs. He is becoming a predictor of Harding's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 2-8 when he doesn't).
In other batting news, Kohen Galm was excellent, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with three runs and one stolen base. That's the most runs he has posted since April 8th. Peyton Kallay was another key player, going 1-for-3 with three RBI.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Harvey will take on Brooklyn at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. As for Harding, they will challenge Conneaut at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. The Spartans have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed ten runs per game on average), something the Skippers will no doubt try to take advantage of.
